Joyce Kelly Gibbs, 84, of Stone Mtn., GA, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014 comfortably at her home of 22 years beside her loving husband of 63 years, Charles H. Gibbs. Mrs. Gibbs was born March 21, 1930 in Jasper County , GA.
After graduation from Monticello High, Mrs. Gibbs moved to Atlanta, graduated from Greenleaf Business School and worked as an executive assistant at Home Life Ins. Co. of New York and at the Coca-Cola Co. while raising six children.
She married Charles H. Gibbs on June 1, 1951. They just recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. Although a country girl at heart, she was interested in politics and issues affecting our great nation which she deeply loved. She had a passion for gardening as is reflected in her lovely home garden and yard which she tended for 22 years. She was an active member of Lawrenceville Road United Methodist Church for 21 years.
Mrs. Gibbs love for the Lord was paramount in her life along with her love for her immediate as well as vast extended family with whom she kept close ties by attending the annual Kelly and Kitchens family reunions. She will be greatly missed here on Earth and received with open arms by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Gibbs is survived by her husband: Charles; children: Philip Gibbs; Sharon Roberts and husband Randy; Tim Gibbs; Elise Joynes and husband Ralph; Eric Gibbs; Brent Gibbs and wife Ashley. Also, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Vallie Kitchens Kelly; siblings, Martha Ann Kelly, Colin Kelly, Jacquelyn Birchfield, and Wayne Kelly.

A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at Lawrenceville Road United Methodist Church located at 3142 Lawrenceville Hwy, Tucker, GA on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m..
