Judith Ellen Huttanus Thornton, age 74, of Dallas, TX, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021. Judith was born in El Paso, Texas on July 7, 1946 to the late Fredrick and Mona Huttanus. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph J Thornton. Judith is survived by her daughter, Cassandra Floody (Michael); son, William Hutchison (Tara); daughter, Emily Thornton Campbell (Michael); son, Will Thornton (Tami); sisters, Susan Manigold and Anastasia Zimmerman; brothers, Fred Huttanus and Steve Huttanus; 5 grandsons: Kevin, Sean, Brendan, Benjamin and Will; 2 granddaughters, Olivia and Avery; and one great-granddaughter, Evangeline.
In midlife, she found fulfillment in completing both undergraduate and master's degrees, became a licensed social worker, and practiced in hospice, giving care and comfort to the dying and bereaved alike. Judith was centered on her faith as a lifelong catholic; it was her greatest joy to share compassion and care with those in need. Judith also loved to draw and paint, travel, and spend time with her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Dallas, Texas at 9:30 A.M. Saturday, June 5, 2021 followed by interment in St. Joseph Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, https://svdpdallas.org/donate/.
