Julian J. Raynes, 87, of Atlanta passed away May 12, 2008 following a prolonged illness. Mr. Raynes was born in Macon, GA, served as a Lt. Cmdr., USN, and was retired from the U.S. Corps of Engineers. He was a member of Congregation Beth Jacob and was a Mason. He was preceded in death by his son Ricky Raynes.
He is survived by his wife, Roselle; sons and daughter-in-law, Theodore and Margo Raynes, grandchildren Jillian Raynes, Benjamin Nielsen and David Raynes, and great grandchildren Jasmine and Jaden Raynes, all of Atlanta. In addition, he is survived by three brothers, Herman (Anita) Raynes of Baltimore, MD; Sidney (Eleanor) of Philadelphia, PA; Mitchell (Gloria) of Houston, TX; and nieces and nephews, Linda and Donald Miller of Atlanta and Estelle and Lawrence Gordon, of Richmond, VA. as well as several other nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at Crestlawn Memorial Park, with Rabbi Ilan D. Feldman officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Torah Day School of Atlanta or to Congregation Beth Jacob.
