Karl Patrick Hubbard

Hubbard, Karl, age 49, of Milton, GA, passed away surrounded by his family on Dec 5, 2013. Karl was born in Atlanta, GA, Nov 4, 1964 to Mary and Donald Hubbard who now live at Lake Burton in North Georgia. Karl is survived by his wife of 15 years, Susanne, his son Nicholas, age 12, and William, age 8. Karl had four siblings, the oldest brother David, then his sister Linda, and two other brothers Richard and Tim. There is also nine nieces and nephews.

Karl graduated from Riverwood High school in Atlanta, GA in 1983. He attended Brevard College as well as Southern Tech. Karl was a contractor by trade and owned his own business, Hubbard Contracting. Karl was a true craftsman. He also loved Motocross to ride and to watch. He would go riding with friends whenever he could and passed his love of the sport to his two boys. Karl even built a track around his house so the boys could ride whenever they wanted. Karl's boys also share his love of soccer and Karl always enjoyed going to the games and cheering them on.

Karl was a kind and easily like able person who had a smile and a kind word for everyone he met. Karl was very loyal and had an honest character that was contagious. He was witty, always fun to be around and was always positive. One of Karl's favorite places was Lake Burton, where he spend many summers growing up and where he proposed to his wife, Susanne.

Karl passed away after a long 8 year battle with stage IV Metastatic Melanoma. He faced his battle with courage, grace and determination that inspired all that knew him and shocked everyone when he lost that battle. He had a great team of doctors at Emory Winship Cancer Center. The family is also thankful for the care received at Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, GA. There will be a "Celebration of Life" service at Roswell River Landing at 245 Azalea Drive, Roswell, GA, 30075. The service is Jan 19, 2014 from 2pm to 5pm. Chaplin Kevin Decantillon will over see the service. Dress is casual. In lieu of flowers the family requests any donations be made to either Emory Winship Cancer Center or the Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF), www.melanoma.org, in Karl's name.

Karl will be missed and never forgotten.
