Kay Frances McMaster Barrow

Kay Frances McMaster was born on March 11, 1939 in New Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Clarion County. She lived in Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Virginia, before the family settled in Orlando, Florida in 1946. She moved to Georgia in 1959 and married Dennis Barrow on July 11, 1966. Kay attended Concord Park Elementary School, Memorial Middle School, and Edgewater High School, all in Orlando, FL. She graduated from Edgewater High School in 1957. Growing up she danced with the Royal Ballet Dance Company. Her hobbies included quilting, tatting, recycling, gardening, composting, and camping. Kay was a charter member of the Piecemakers Quilt Guild in Cumming Ga. The guild was established in 1985. She made and donated many beautiful quilts. She was a member of the Georgia Quilt Council. Kay was an outstanding singer and sang with the Cumming Chorale and First United Methodist Church Choir. She was of Scottish descent and attended the Scottish Highland Games. Kay had a very active presence in the amateur radio community and on the Sawnee Mountain repeater for many years. Kay passed away on October 14, 2024. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dennis Barrow, her parents Ina Frances and Amos Gilbert McMaster, sisters Evelyn Mae McMaster Ross, Lois Lucille McMaster, and Paul Joseph McMaster. 

She is survived by her son, Shawn, his wife, Ikuyo; their 3 children, Wataru Dennis, Hannah Kay, and Sumire Sophia; and her brother Marvin Lee McMaster.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19, at Cumming First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 2:00 until 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
