Kenneth Dale Kraynick, age 81, passed away Friday, December 18th, 2020. Ken was born the middle of three children to George and Dorothy Kraynick in McKeesport, Pennsylvania on April 3, 1939. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and served in the U.S. Army at Fort Knox from 1962-1964. Ken married Patricia Ann Lockhart in 1961 and together they raised two sons.
Ken was a Licensed Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Georgia and built a career in the nuclear power industry, working many years with Ebasco and the Institute for Nuclear Power Operations. His work led the family to Dunwoody, Georgia in 1974 and Ken remained in Georgia for the rest of his life. There, Ken coached his sons' soccer teams, took up running and for years participated in the Peachtree Road Race, and enjoyed skiing, traveling, and singing in the choir at Peachtree Presbyterian Church. Ken could build or fix just about anything and had every tool necessary for the task. He helped craft Pinewood Derby racers for two generations of Cub Scouts and cheered on his grandchildren in their many activities.
Ken was predeceased by his wife, Patricia and his parents. He is survived by his sister, Janet Oliver and brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Vera Kraynick, his son Jeffrey Kraynick, son and daughter-in-law Ron and Kathleen Kraynick, grandchildren Alec, Ethan, Laura and Ryan, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org or to 225 N. Michigan Ave, Floor 17; Chicago, IL 60601.
