Kenneth (Ken) McBrayer Dozier, age 95, of Smyrna, GA, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 31, 2017.
Ken was born the oldest of three children in McDonough, Georgia, on May 22, 1922, to John and Leora Maxwell Dozier. As a child and young man, Kenneth helped his father, who was a homebuilder. He learned all kinds of woodcraft under his dad's tutelage. According to Kenneth, from his mother he learned to eat whatever was put on the table.
Ken went to Berry College, but was called away to service in 1940. He served with the Army Air Force as an airplane mechanic in London until the end of World War II. When he returned to the states, he finished his education at Young Harris College in Hiawassee, Georgia.
Ken worked for Mead Packaging as the printing ink purchasing agent until he retired from Mead in 1985. Mead Packaging was the company that printed all of the Coca-Cola containers through those years.
He met Eunice Adams in 1946, and they were married in June of 1947. Three sons were born to Kenneth and Eunice, and the family moved to Smyrna in 1961. Ken and Eunice have camped all over the southeast. They loved going to the gulf coast to camp and fish, enjoying many long weekends outdoors with the family. Ken also had a small fishing boat, which he and Eunice regularly took out on all the lakes within a couple of hours of their home in Smyrna. Ken was an avid reader, and was devoted to his daily Bible study.
Ken has been an active member of Tillman UMC in Smyrna since 1961. After his retirement he volunteered with Meals on Wheels and Cobb M.U.S.T. He and Eunice raised a large vegetable garden each year, donating many of the vegetables to those in need including Calvary Children's Home. Their home was a place of hospitality, especially to those without family close by during the holidays.
Ken is survived by Mike and Cheryl Dozier of Cumming; Steve and Nancy Dozier of Cumming; and Alan and Arlene Dozier of Haddock, GA.
