Kenneth Martin Mercado

Kenneth Martin Mercado, 85, of Cumming, GA passed away on January 15, 2023. Ken was born on May 15, 1937 to the late Milton and Sylvia Schanzer Mercado of New York, NY. He is survived by his loving spouse of 59 years, Jutta Mercado; his children Troy Mercado (Karen), Robert Mercado (Dawn), Tara Mercado (Randy), late Lee Mercado, late Gary Mercado and Susan Meyer (Glenn); his twelve grandchildren, Kyle Mercado, Haylee Mercado, Kacie Mercado, Adrien Mercado, Zachary Mercado, Justin Mercado, McGregor Rowland, Emma Betti, Lisa Mercado, Lori Mercado, Kelly Mercado, Evan Mercado and Amethyst Mercado.  Ken is also survived by his sister, Doris Bishop and brother, Steven Mercado.

Ken was born and raised in Long Island, NY until age 18 when his family moved to Hudson, NY and bought a ranch. Upon his father’s passing, Ken carried on his father’s legacy by wearing western attire, always donning a Stetson hat and cowboy boots. From that moment on, Ken was known to his friends, colleagues and business associates as “Cowboy Ken”. He was a hardworking man that loved people.

In 1977, after working for Seven Santini Brothers in the moving industry, Ken opened his own company, Intermove Ltd. in Stamford, CT. Intermove Ltd, became his passion which continues today to service the International moving industry. Intermove Ltd. is one of Ken’s legacies left behind.

Aside from his passion for business, Ken was a kind gentle man that always put the needs of others in front of his own. He never met a stranger that he didn’t like. Ken was a confident, refined and approachable man that exuded generosity. He was always up for an adventure, a “go with the flow and enjoyed the ride” kind of man. These characteristics taught his children invaluable lessons but most importantly, he taught them to love unconditionally and accept everyone for who they are. 

He will be missed by so many, but never forgotten.

A service will be officiated by Rabbi Jordan Ottenstein followed by a celebration of Ken’s life on Monday, February 13, 2023 at 11 am at Congregation Dor Tamid, 11165 Parsons Rd, Johns Creek, GA 30097.
