On September 2, 2023 Lajos (Louie) Bode went on to be with the Lord. Louie was born in Hungary in 1936. In the early 1950s, he risked his life escaping from the Hungarian Communist revolution and was able to seek asylum in NYC. It is there he met the love of his life, his wife of 60 years, Rita Bode. Louie was known as the "Sausage Man" after he retired as a butcher from Publix. He loved to cook for the masses. Louie also retired from his second career at St. Petersburg College. He had two children and four grandchildren.
Louie is survived by his son Louis Bode, daughter-in-law Chastidy Haye Bode, and grandchildren Steven, Garrett, and Noah. He is also survived by his daughter Maria Forcey, son-in-law Richard, and grandson Richard Jr.
