Leigh Ann (Klipp) Johnston, age 54, of Gainesville, GA passed away suddenly Saturday, September 1, 2012, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. She was the loving and devoted wife of Scott H. Johnston, Sr. In addition, she is survived by stepson Scott H. Johnston Jr., Holly White and grandson Elijah L. Johnston of Flowery Branch, GA; stepdaughter Savannah Johnston and Zach Hutchinson of Buford, GA. Her four-legged children include Norman, Lady and Jeb.
She was a caring sister to Kathy L. Harris of Laurel, MD; Jeffery A. Klipp of Gainesville, GA; Stacey M. and W. Brice Foxwell of Westminster, MD and Terrence C. Sharrer of Idaho. She is also survived by two brothers-in-law: Clay and Rebecca Johnston of Jasper, GA and Gordon and Sandy Johnston of Iowa. She will be greatly missed by numerous Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Mrs. Johnston was born May 20, 1958 in Charleston, SC to the late Robert G. Klipp and Sandra D. (Michael) and Victor Sharrer of Huntsville, UT. She was raised in Middleburg, MD by the late Helen L. (Fogle) and Robert H. Klipp. She graduated from Francis Scott Key High School in 1976.
She was an active member of Sts. Mary and Martha of Bethany Church and Choir in Buford, GA. She was an amazing seamstress with a special talent for everything from wedding dresses to quilts. She especially liked to sew for family, friends and her church. In recent years, she took great pleasure in teaching classes so that she could share her talent and love of sewing. For many years, she served as a service manager and warranty administrator for various auto dealers throughout Georgia.
As a lifelong advocate for any and all critters who needed a home, Mrs. Johnston was an avid member of the SPCA and numerous other organizations dedicated to the health and well being of animals.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, September 8th at 11am at Sts. Mary and Martha of Bethany Church, 4346 Ridge Road, Buford, GA 30519. Another service is being planned in Maryland for late September. Donations can be made in memory of Leigh Ann Johnston's beautiful life to your local SPCA.
