Leonard M. Perry, 77 of Cumming Georgia, beloved husband of fifty-seven
years to Sandra R. Perry, died on Thursday morning, September 26, 2013.
Leonard was born in Stamford, Connecticut on February 25, 1936, son of
the late Robert and Mary (Roman) Perry. He grew up in a loving home
with his nine brothers and sisters. Leonard attended J.M. Wright Technical
School, served his country in the United States Marine Corps and retired
from Eder Brothers in West Haven Connecticut after thirty-three years of service. In 1995, just a few years after retirement, Leonard and Sandra moved to Alpharetta, Georgia to be near their children and grandchildren. Leonard quickly became an Atlanta Braves and Falcons fan. In is retired years, Leonard enjoyed planting his spring garden, bargain hunting and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. For over two decades, each Christmas season Leonard and Sandra played the role of Mr. and Mrs. Claus, entertaining many school children in Connecticut and Atlanta. Early in his life and in retirement, Leonard was a loyal servant of the Catholic Church, an alter boy at Saint Benedicts in Stamford Connecticut and later a member and usher at Saint Brendan''s in Cumming Georgia.
In addition to his wife Sandra and brother Ed, Leonard is survived by his children; David Perry, Kevin Perry, Michael Perry, Missy Doris and her husband Steve and Maria Fragle and her husband Guy. He is the grandfather to six grandchildren; Nick and Samantha Doris, Tara and Tori Perry and Grace and Jacob Fragle and four great grandchildren; Anna, Adam, Allie and Ella Perry. Leonard was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Robert, Charlie, Frankie, Stevie, Andy and sisters Dorothy, Mary and Ellie.
The family will receive friends at Byars Funeral Home, 166 Professional Park Drive, Cumming Georgia, on Sunday, September 29th from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 30th at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Brendan''s Catholic Church, 4633 Shiloh Road, Cumming Georgia. A luncheon reception will be held at Saint Brendan''s following the burial service at the cemetery; Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.
