Lester William Piot, Jr.
A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, Les Piot, 91, of Cumming, Georgia, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2013 with his family present. He was born August 19, 1922 in North Charleroi, Pennsylvania, and resided in Rochester, Michigan; Dallas, Texas; Birmingham, Alabama; and Cumming, Georgia. After graduating with a B.S. from Lawrence Institute of Technology, Detroit, Michigan, he joined the U.S. Army and served during WWII. After the war, he held numerous sales and senior executive positions at Chrysler Corporation, Detroit; Computer Dimensions, Inc., Dallas; Itel Corp., San Francisco; Dyatron Corp, Birmingham; and the international automotive servicing organization, DMACS Intl., Birmingham, where he served as President and CEO. He retired in 2007 in Cumming, Georgia with his wife, near family and friends. He was a 32nd Degree Mason.

Les enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching football, and good Italian food, and he had a lifelong passion for cars and the automotive industry. He always made time for family and friends and built relationships that lasted a lifetime. His warm smile, quick wit, generous spirit and sincerity will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Piot of Cumming, Georgia; son, Jim Piot and wife, Marilee of Dallas, Texas; son, Bob Piot and wife, Barbara of Corona Del Mar, California; daughter, Joanne L. Kurt of Milford, Connecticut; son, Tom Wallek of Las Vegas, Nevada; daughter, Laurie Owens and husband, Phil of Laguna Beach, California; daughter, Kim Roman and husband, John of Alpharetta, Georgia; daughter, Leslie Leath and husband, Jim of Suwanee, Georgia; son, Jon Piot and wife, Susan of Dallas, Texas; and his sister, Joanne Coleman of Cookeville, Tennessee. He had 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother, and three sisters.

The family will be receiving visitors at 9:00 a.m. Friday, November 8, 2013 with a service following at 10:00 a.m. at Byars Funeral Home, 155 Professional Park Drive, Cumming, Georgia 30040. Interment will follow for family at Georgia National Cemetery with military honors.
