Lewis B. "Fred" Allen

Lewis B. "Fred" Allen, age 91, of Marietta, passed away on March 25, 2010. Mr. Allen, a native of Swanton, Ohio, was a graduate of Ohio State University and Ohio State University School of Law. During World War II he was a Navy fighter pilot and flight trainer in Pensacola. He left the service as Lieutenant Commander. After practicing law in Bryan, Ohio for several years he became associated with the law department and real estate development with the Kroger Company. He left Kroger to work for the DeBartolo Companies and then went on to become Vice President of Store and Property Development with Colonial Stores, Inc., from where he retired in 1981.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Paula Huffstutler Allen; five children, Heidi Allen, Michael Allen, Wendy Allen Parsons, Stuart Allen and Donlyn Carpenter Sanders; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held March 27, 2010, at 11:00 am in the chapel at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church in Marietta. A reception will immediately follow at Atlanta Country Club, where he was a 40+ year member. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ALTUS Healthcare and Hospice, Inc. (5411 Northland Drive, NW.
