Linda Bridges Young

   Linda graduated with the 1964 class from Seminole County High School and went on to pursue a bachelor's degree in child education from Valdosta State University. Throughout her career she continued to her focus on education and obtained a master's in said field. She began her career as an educator with the Oconee Co School district, then to her hometown teaching with Seminole Co. Later in her career she worked with Waldon Co and Cobb Co school districts which allowed her to split her focus between her career, children, and grandchildren.

   Mrs. Young had a deep passion for youth sports and recreation both in the collegiate and private sectors. She fought relentlessly to bridge the gap of inequality of the sexes in sports. She created and cofounded the girls fast pitch softball league as well as a coed adult league in watkinsville GA, spending many nights with her family under the lights of Herman C Micheal field and sports complex.

   Mrs. Young is survived by her children and their spouses, Tracy & Chris Fields, Rusty Young, Danny & Christine Young, David & Melody Young; five, grandchildren, Julianna Grace, Joey, Orry,Anderson Rose, Cole; brother, E.C. Bridges.

   The family, though very appreciative, would like all to please refrain from providing gifts such as flowers and/or donations as an expression of condolences.

As Linda's wishes, if donations are desired, please make them financial or in the form of personal time directed to your local youth education, sports and recreational organizations.

A celebration of life will be held 10am Saturday, March 11, 2023 at The Bishop Baptist Church (1110 Old Bishop Rd, Bishop, Ga 30621) with Rev. Jeff Wilkes officiating. A memorial reception will follow. At Mrs Young and her family's request,  All guest are asked to please dress in a casual and Informal manner. Ingram Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
