Lona Thomason

Mrs. Lona Thomason, age 98 of Cumming departed this life Friday January 24, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her family. Lona was born in Forsyth County to her parents, Carl and Belle Grant Pirkle. Mrs. Thomason was a lifelong resident of Forsyth County and a member of Crossroads Baptist Church. She loved her family dearly and EVERYONE was welcomed as her family. She was affectionately known as “Granny” to everyone. Lona loved to cook, crochet, and spend time working in the yard. Mrs. Thomason is preceded in death by her loving husband, YJ Thomason, parents Carl and Belle Grant Pirkle, siblings; Eva Mae Talley, Lee Pirkle, Reed Pirkle, in laws; Melvin Thomason, Dillard Thomason and Vella Thomason Rice.

Survivors include son Jackie Thomason (Dorothy), grandchildren, Steve Thomason (Dawn) and Kevin Thomason, great - grandchild Ryder Thomason, sister Lela Pirkle Bennett, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Lona Thomason will be Tuesday January 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM from the Crossroads Baptist Church with Rev. Brody Hughes and Rev. Donnie Nix officiating Lona will be laid to rest beside her husband in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday January 27, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Ingram Funeral Home. The following gentlemen are honored to serve as pallbearers, Steve Thomason, Kevin Thomason, Ryder Thomason, Chris Kyle, Kyle Lamb, Chris Lamb and Stacey Fowler.
