Lieutenant Colonel Curtis Boyd Eidell, Jr., United States Army was born September 11, 1925 in Hazelhurst, Pennsylvania. Ninety years, five months and nine days later he expired from respiratory illness. He was the son of Curtis Boyd Eidell, Sr. and Emma Francheart. He is survived by Gary and Alice Eidell of Alpharetta, Georgia, and Joshua Eidell of Dawsonville, Georgia; two grandsons, Sean Eidell of Warm Springs, Georgia and Kevin Eidell of North Augusta, South Carolina; also a granddaughter, Amy Greene of Jackson, Georgia. He had three sisters who preceded him, Aileen Armstrong, Mattie Yoxtheimer, and Luella Gustafson; surviving nieces are Kathy Leonard of Stoneham, Pennsylvania, Mary Ann Martin of Douglasville, Georgia, Bonnie Walker of Kane, Pennsylvania, Becky Gullifer of Kane, Pennsylvania, Sue Robinson of Watson Farm, Pennsylvania, Kay Paskey of Sheffield, Pennsylvania, Darlene Westfall of Kane, Pennsylvania and Frankie Bundy, also of Kane Pennsylvania. He learned repair work and took odd jobs, farming in the spring and summer in exchange for food in the fall and winter. He became a "Powder Monkey", learning the demolition business from Jay Mangold. He liked gardening, home projects, and had a passion for football. Well liked, he became a local sports figure, Number 34 for the Kane Wolves. War time pressure forced early graduation on all young men and he enlisted in the U.S. Army in World War II. A Point du Hoc "Ranger", he becomes, fighting well through Europe, he climbs the promotion chain to Sergeant First Class and was selected as a pallbearer for General George S. Patton. He returns home and was discharged in Erie, Pennsylvania. He joins the Kane Guard the very next day. Soon, he is a Master Sergeant and receives a "Battlefield Commission" in Korea. Next is selection for Special Forces and three tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a true Three War Veteran and his record is legendary!
