Ludella Ollis Carter

Ludella Ollis Carter, 90, Newland, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017 in the Cannon Memorial Hospital, Newland. A native of Avery County, she was a daughter of the late Walter Brownlow Bertha Julian Ollis. She had lived most of life in Marietta, Georgia before returning to Newland a few years ago. She was a graduate of Cranberry High School and the Grace Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Carter served in the United States Cadet Nurses Corps. She was a longtime member of the East Side Baptist Church, Marietta, Georgia and was presently a member of the Cranberry Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Verlon Carter, a son: Dr. Kenneth Carter, a sister: Alberta Connell, two brothers: Ray and Walter B. Ollis, Jr.

Survivors include a daughter: Linda Carter Denman husband Rick, Kennesaw, Georgia. Her Sons: Larry Carter wife Susan, Roswell, Georgia and Dr. Jerry Carter wife Peggy, Morganton, North Carolina. Her daughter-in-law: Judy Carter, Cummings, Georgia. Ten Grandchildren: Scott (Jennie) Carter, Shannon (Clint) Banks, Josh (Leslie) Carter, Lucus Carter, Maggie (Cody) Arrington, Cliff (Liz) Carter, Courtney (T.J.) Hill, Jamie (Greg) Luttrull and McKenna Denman. Nine Great Grandchildren: Four Sisters: Lois Rabb, Marion, North Carolina, Brownell Allman husband Gene, Cranberry, North Carolina, Grace Calhoun husband Doyle, Newland, North Carolina, and Jean Honeycutt husband Gene, Johnson City, Tennessee, Two Brothers: Bob Ollis and Faith Lacey, Newland, North Carolina and Joe Ollis wife Glenna, Marietta, Georgia , several nieces nephews, and a cousin, Jewell Potter.

Graveside service for Mrs. Carter will be held Sunday, October 1, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. at the New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery in Gainesville, Georgia with the Rev. Ken Ellison officiating.

Ingram Funeral Home Crematory, Cumming, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
