In Loving Memory of Mable Irene Douglas
Mable Irene Douglas, a beacon of love and strength, departed this world on January 25, 2024, surrounded by the warmth of cherished memories. She was born on April 14, 1937, in North Carolina, the eldest child among three brothers and six sisters, to Ardle Abston and Mabel Macabe
Mable's formative years were spent in Tennessee, where she developed the strong foundation of family bonds that would become the hallmark of her life. In 1965, she and her family made Cumming, Georgia, their home, where Mable continued to cultivate a legacy of love and unity.
In 1977, Mable exchanged vows with the love of her life, Roy Douglas. Their union was a testament to enduring love, lasting for 38 years until Roy's passing. Together, they navigated the journey of life, building a home filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams.
Mable had a passion for cooking that brought joy to family gatherings and celebrations. Her kitchen was a place where love and warmth filled every dish, creating memories that lingered long after the meals were finished.
The joy of Mable and Roy's life was their daughter, Dawn Douglas. Mable found immense happiness in witnessing Dawn's growth and accomplishments. The love between Mable's family extended to her son-in-law, Robert Lewis, and daughter-in-law, April Lewis, who were welcomed with open arms into the Douglas family.
The apple of Mable's eye was her cherished grandson, Steven Lewis. She took great pride in the young man he became and relished in the special moments they shared as grandmother and grandson.
Mable was a woman of faith and a dedicated member of Cross Plains Baptist Church. Her spirituality was a guiding light in her life, and her involvement in the church community reflected her commitment to serving others with compassion and kindness.
In 1965, Mable and her family settled in Cumming, Georgia, where she became an integral part of the community. Her warm and welcoming nature endeared her to friends and neighbors alike, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
As we bid farewell to Mable Irene Douglas, let us remember her for the love she shared, the strength she embodied, and the grace with which she embraced life. May her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration for all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of Mable's life will be held at Ingram Funeral Home on February 1 at 10:00 and service will begin at 12:00. She will be laid to rest at Cross Plains Baptist Church.
May she rest in eternal peace, her spirit forever alive in the hearts of those who loved her.
