Madelyn Summers passed away Thursday April 19, 2012 peacefully with family by her side at the age of 93. She was born August 1, 1918 in Pennsboro, West Virginia. She graduated with a degree from Oklahoma A, was ahead of her time being the highest paid female at Fulton Bag and Cotton Mill running the child care facility, and founded Chastain Arts Center in Atlanta. We will remember her for her quick wit, determination, creative mind, and most importantly her big heart. She was always thinking of others even in her last moments with us and she will be greatly missed. Survived by: niece Belinda Swift of Cumming, two nephews Richard Summers of Canton and Michael Summers of Cumming, grand niece Stacey Swift of Los Angeles, California, and two grand nephews Austin Swift of Dodge City, Kansas and Joseph Summers of Knoxville, Tennessee. A viewing will be held Friday from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, Saturday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Sunday from 12:00 noon until the hour of the service. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 22, at 2:00 PM at Ingram Funeral Home with the Rev. Stacey Hanson officiating. Interment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery in Roswell. Ingram Funeral Home & Crematory, Cumming, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
