Services for Mamie C. Smith, 90, of Cairo, GA, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Eastside Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Carl Harrell, Rev. Paul Jones and Pastor Johnny Moore will officiate. Entombment services will be in Sawnee View Gardens, Cumming, GA, on Friday, March 29, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. Mrs. Smith passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Magnolia Manor South in Moultrie, GA. Active pallbearers will be Tommy Pyles, Tommy Lackey, R. J. Lang, Willie Harrison, Wallace Cox and Gene Lashley. Mrs. Smith was born on August 19, 1922, in Dawson County, GA, to the late Will Smith and Lelia Hyde Smith. On August 19, 1948, she married Arthur C. Smith, Sr., who preceded her in death in on July 28, 1986. Until her retirement she worked in retail sales with Rich's Department Store in downtown Atlanta. She was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church of Cairo. Mrs. Smith loved God first and her family above all other things. She was the best mother ever. Survivors include: her daughter, Dianne Boutwell of Cairo, GA; grandson, Chad Jones of Hiawassee, GA; granddaughter, Sheri McAbee (Bob) of Brush, CO; great-grandson, Aaron Jones of Hiawassee, GA; brothers, Alvin Smith (Margaret) of Cumming, GA, Bill Smith (Jean) of Ball Ground, GA, James Smith of Dallas, GA, Mark Smith (Barbara) of Cumming, GA; sisters, Sarah Pearl Lathem of Cumming, GA, Aldine Bruce of Morrow, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; a son, William Leonard Jones; brothers, Jewel Smith, Jessie Smith, Jerry Smith; and sisters, Edna Hamons and Montine Nix. The family received friends at Clark Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and at Ingram Funeral Home on Thursday, March 28, 2013, from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
