Margaret Evelyn (Samples) Martin. On the evening of March 2, 2016, Margaret passed away at Northside Forsyth Hospital in Cumming, GA surrounded by family. Margaret was 83 years old. Margaret was born July 13, 1932 in Cumming, GA to George Presley Samples and Fannie Odessa Day Samples. Margaret was an only child for thirteen years, until the birth of her brother, and married not long after. In that way, she was lovingly doted upon by parents and husband alike, so that when, as a young mother of four, she became widowed and lost both mother and father a short time later, she drew from an inner strength that they had instilled and that carried onward to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. The characteristics of this strength presented as fortitude and discipline as well as grace and good humor. Her profession as a beautician allowed for many lifelong client friendships. Her hobbies included crochet, fashion, and decor. Margaret spent countless hours traveling and entertaining with her family, the chief characteristic of her legacy. She took good care of herself and of the people she loved, and for this she will be remembered. Margaret is preceded in death by parents George Presley Samples and Fannie Odessa Day Samples; husband, Jesse Mack Martin; and infant daughter, Shirley Brenda Martin. Margaret is survived by brother Johnny (Jean) Samples of Dawsonville, GA; daughter Elaine (Dan) Richie of Duluth, GA; son, Danny (Cindy) Martin of Sandy Springs, GA; son David (Sherry) Martin of Jasper, GA; daughter, Melissa (Joe) Addington of Alpharetta, GA; eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, niece and nephew, and many other relatives and friends. Visitation with the family will be held at Ingram Funeral Home, Cumming, GA, Wednesday, March 9, 2016, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be at Green Lawn Cemetery, Roswell, GA, Thursday, March 10, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has been requested any donations be sent to Egleston Children's Hospital, Decatur, GA or on the web at https://giving.choa.org/give.
