Marie Barnes Welch went home to the healing presence of her Lord on July 17, 2017.

She was born in Ellijay, Georgia, December 1, 1946, to the late Harley and Ruby Barnes. She graduated from Gilmer High School in 1964 and worked as an Executive Assistant, a Legal Secretary, and helped her husband, Charles, run their insurance agency in Cumming. Marie resided in Cumming most of her adult life, was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, and truly loved the people of Forsyth County.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Welch, Sr., her son, Justin Barnes Welch, brothers James (Jimmy) Harley Barnes and William (Billy) Carter Barnes, sister-in-law Gayron Marshall Barnes, and brother-in-law J.W. Holloway.

She is survived by her son, Charles (Chuck) F. Welch, Jr., his wife Renee, their grandson, Charlie Welch (the light of her life), sister, Elizabeth Barnes Holloway, brother-in-law and sister Ted and Brenda Barnes Jones, her sister-in-law Elspeth Welch Ross, as well as many dearly loved nieces and nephews.

Maries grace and gentle spirit of loving kindness will always live on in the hearts of all who loved her.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 21st at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church with Dr. Bob Jolly officiating. Interment will follow in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Friday from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm.

Ingram Funeral Home Crematory, Cumming, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
