Marlies E Wilkerson passed away on August 1, 2021 in her residence in Suwanee GA after a short illness.
The only child of Karl and Friedel Brachvogel, she was born on July 12, 1934 in Leipzig Germany. While attending University, she married Dr. H. Paul Neubauer and they escaped from the then socialist East Germany in 1952 and immigrated to the United States, settling in Wapello Iowa. They had three sons, Caroll, Dirk, and John. In 1968 she married Duane Wilkerson and resided first in Salisbury, Missouri and later Clifton Hill, Missouri where they farmed, managed livestock, and owned a real estate office.
Preceded in death by her husband in 2007, Marlies is survived by her 3 sons and their wives, 2 step children, 5 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. She was a lover of her family, music and the arts, fashion, entertaining, and her friends in various clubs and sorority. She was fiercely loyal, straight to the point, and was a force of nature. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
A family service is planned for at 11:00 am on Thursday, 8/5 at Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, GA, followed by her internment with Duane at Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO on Monday, 8/9 at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the American Cancer Society.
