Mary Burnsed

June 18, 1928 — April 7, 2023

Mary Burnsed

Born June 18, 1928 in Varnville, S.C.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Rev. Fritz Burnsed, her parents James Robert Anderson (Lovia) and Marietta Thomas Baker (Joe), two sisters Delores Iler (James) and Joan Steadman (Mark).

She is survived by two children, Jeanne and Bonnie, three grandchildren, Lloyd (Kenya), Rebecca, and Jason, and three great grandchildren, Austin, Fritz and Breannah.

Mary Edna (Nanny) was the sparkling example of how to love unconditionally. She was the devoted wife of her minister husband, Rev. Fritz Burnsed, a loving mother, doting grandmother and great grandmother. Her faith in God and family was obvious. She loved children - all children. She taught Sunday School. She cooked the most fabulous Sunday dinners, holiday dinners and family gathering dinners. Everyone loved her German Chocolate cake made from scratch, her own recipe for the Punchbowl cake and oh my, those Brownies, standing in line at church dinners to make sure you got yours! Her biscuits should have been a Southern Living classic recipe! Everyone raved about them.

Mom, there are no words to describe how the heart feels when a spirit leaves that was shining as bright as your's. You were the rock of our family, solid, and always there ready to offer advice and help. You did this while loving and caring for a special child, Jeanne, for the last 68 years. You filled our lives with laughter and love, delicious meals, and, yes, discipline (which we needed!). We were divinely blessed to have you as a wonderful example of unconditional love and a strong shelter in difficult times.

With your twinkling, bright blue eyes, and beautiful smile, you saw the beauty in everyone and everything. I know the birds are gathering with the angels to sing for you. You have passed the torch, Mom. We will do our very best to honor your legacy of love and faith in God. You blessed us with precious memories we will forever treasure. You are in God's hands now.

A graveside service in Oviedo, FL will be held at a future date.
