On June 2, 2023, Mary Lee (Rexford) Carpenter (86) passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. A beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandma and Gigi, she leaves a legacy of love. Her devotion and enthusiasm for family will carry on for generations to come, while her earthly presence will be dearly missed. She loved the Lord with all her heart and her prayers wove a blanket of protection and guidance around those whom she cherished. Just as her crochet blankets will continue to offer warmth, comfort and memories!
Mary Lee was a graduate of Wellsboro High School class of 1957 and a Patron of the Silver Star with the Pennsylvania State Grange. She spent most of her life on Windy Hill Farm, the family dairy farm in Little Marsh, PA. and was a member of the Shortsville Baptist Church. She was a faithful, hard-working woman and an avid gardener, bird watcher and cook. During get-togethers, she was well-known for her scalloped potatoes, which have yet to be duplicated!
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Neil Carpenter, parents, Winfred & Allie (Schoonover) Rexford, brothers, Harold Rexford, Kenneth Rexford, Jess Rexford and sisters, Joyce Rexford, Winnifred Mohr and Mary Ann Rexford (twin).
She leaves behind 3 sisters, Bernice Berleue, Althea Bednarek and Jean Huston; 5 children Kenneth & (Deborah) Carpenter, Denise & (Claude) Hoffman, Kevin & (Jill) Carpenter, Phyllis Vols and Gwen & (Scott) Whelchel; 10 cherished grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, all whom she adored!
She will be cremated and laid to rest next to her husband in the Middlebury Union Cemetery, Middlebury Center, PA. at a later date.
To our beloved: “As you continue to watch over those you love we will listen for you in the wind chimes!”
