Mary Jean Smith, 56, of Alpharetta, GA, died Thursday, July 11 2013.
She was born to Henry Russell and Jean B. Cochran on August 7, 1956 in Wareham, MA. She graduated from Milton High School, Alpharetta, GA in 1975.She married Phillip E. Smith on March 1, 1980. They lived together in Alpharetta, GA.
Mary Jean was a school bus driver for Fulton County for 22 years. She loved being a bus driver and connecting with the many children she came into contact with over the years. She made many lasting friendships while working for Fulton County.
Mary Jean was an active member of North Roswell Baptist Church, Roswell, GA. She loved reading mystery novels, spending time with her dog Abbie, and doing crossword puzzles. She especially loved to spend time with her grandson, Russell Nurnberg (Scooter).
Mary Jean is survived by her mother, Jean B. Cochran of Alpharetta; husband, Phillip E. Smith of Alpharetta; daughter, Mae Nurnberg of Cumming and grandson, Russell Nurnberg of Cumming.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to their church, North Roswell Baptist Church, 770-633-2851.
A Celebration of life will be held at Liberty Grove Baptist Church, 17055 Birmingham Hwy (GA Hwy 372), Alpharetta, GA 30004 on July 27, 2013 at 4:00pm in the Fellowship Hall located behind the church after a graveside service.
