Mary Cathryine “Cathi” O’Neill

Mary Cathryine O’Neill “Cathi”, passed away at home March 12, 2023 from diabetes and a sweet, tired heart.

Cathi, called “Dancing Bear” as a child and “Catie” by family, was a kind and thoughtful soul and will be missed and remembered by the many lives she touched. Taken home too soon, her family hopes she is home free, playing with the animals and spending much missed time with family that passed before her.

Cathi loved crafts, the Georgia Bulldogs, collecting miniature glass figurines, traveling to the mountains for apple season and craft fairs, the lake and the beach – to fish and breath in the coastal air and anywhere else, to enjoy all the beauty she could. Her love for music and crafting, was only surpassed by her love for Family and commitment to Faith and Belief and Love of Jesus.

After enjoying her best years ever with Delta Airlines/ASA, where she was awarded Employee of the Year, by her fellow Delta/ASA employees (2 years in a row), she went on to get certified as a Nursing Assistant where she was top of her class at Atlanta Bible College. Working with the elderly was her love, a huge contribution to this world and a bright spot in their lives. Diabetes made a huge change to Cathi’s life in 2018, which resulted in her son, Ande, providing loving assistance, living with her until her passing.
She was preceded in death by parents, Clark and Jane Bagley O’Neill of Atlanta, GA.
She is survived by her sons, Charles A “Ande” Burchfield of Commerce, GA and Brandon L Burchfield of Atlanta, GA, and her loved furry child, Buddy.

Numerous cousins and caring friends.

Services will be held Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 1:00 PM, Haw Creek Baptist Church, 1098 Haw Creek Circle, Cumming, GA. Viewing will be at the church, 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Haw Creek Cemetery.
