Matthew Al Pirkle, age 46, resident of Cumming, Georgia died suddenly at his home Thursday, July 28, 2022. Matt was a member of Cumming Baptist Church since 2010 and prior to that Roanoke Baptist Church. Matt graduated from Forsyth Central High School in 1994 where he excelled in both basketball and baseball. He received his BBA degree from North Georgia College in 2004. Matt’s love of sports and the outdoors led him to his first job at Cumming Recreation and Parks Department where he remained for almost 30 years as a part time employee and then to a full time position. His most recent assignment was Assistant Athletics Coordinator. Matt always said his greatest accomplishment in life was his two children whom he dearly loved.
Matt is preceded in death by his father, Alvie Pirkle, and his grandparents, Helen and Brice Bennett, Sr.
Matt is survived by his wife, Juli (Harwell) Pirkle and children, Emma and Cason. He is also survived by his mother, Charlene Bennett Pirkle, brother, Ritchie, and sister Amanda (Troy) Embrey, nieces Anna Bryce Embrey, Hadley Embrey, sister-in-law, Stephanie Pirkle, nieces Riley Pirkle, Ali (Matthew) Connor and several other relatives as well as his work family at Cumming Recreation and Parks Department.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 1 at 3:00 p.m.at Cumming Baptist Church Sanctuary with Reverend Jamie Archer officiating and Chuck Shadburn, lifelong friend, will deliver eulogy. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service in the Sanctuary.
