On Wednesday, May 15, 2019, Joel Max Green peacefully passed away at the age of 86. He will be loving remembered by his wife of 56 years, Beverly (Benton) Green, and their son, Steve; his sister, Timmie Turner; nieces, nephews and many close friends. He is preceded in death by his son Alan, his parents Garland and Alice Green, and brothers Robert and Jimmy.
Max was born on January 14, 1933 in Free Home, GA. After graduating from Forest Park High School, he met his wife, Beverly, and they were married in 1962. He served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Fort Myer, VA. Max was a truck driver for Cudahy Packing Company and retired after 30 years of service. He also was a volunteer fireman for Forsyth County. He enjoyed being a member and Past Master of Ducktown Lodge #572 FAM Masonic Lodge in Cumming and a member of Union Hill Baptist Church. Max had a passion for his farm, his cows, and his garden.
Funeral services for Mr. Green will be held on Saturday, May 18, at 1:00 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel in Cumming, GA. Interment with Military Honors and Masonic Rites will follow at Sawnee View Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 1:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
