Melissa Mae Nelson

Melissa Mae Field Nelson was born on November 7, 1976, the only child of John (deceased) and Linda Loughton Field in Huntington, Long Island, New York. She grew up in Irvington, New York, New Canaan, CT, and Rehoboth Beach, DE where she graduated from Lewes High School in 1994. She moved to Florida and graduated with a B.A. degree in 1998 from Florida State University in Tallahassee.

Melissa loved the water and became a lifeguard in her teens and also participated in track and field. Moving to Atlanta, GA after college she made a group of dear friends who enjoyed Karaoke, singing, and dancing. Her first jobs were in fashion modeling and movie acting though she moved to a business career where she could use her fast computer skills. She married Jeffery Ryan Nelson of Atlanta, GA at Rehoboth Beach, DE in 2009 and they moved to a home in Woodstock, GA.

She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Gemma Grace born in 2014 and Alexis Eve born in 2019. She is also survived by her mother, Linda Field, of Roswell, GA and five step-children: John, Jane, Stephen, and Michael Field and Sally Sabatino who reside in the area of Philadelphia, PA. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Barbara Nelson and brother-in-law, Shawn Nelson of Canton, GA.

A memorial service was held on December 9 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Roswell, GA under the direction of Bishop Aaron Tady. Melissa was interred in Grace Garden at Sawnee View Memorial Cemetery in Cumming, GA. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made toward funeral expenses to the Jeffery Nelson family.
