Michael Kenneth Van Loo, 50, of Cumming, Georgia passed away on July 2, 2021 after a short illness.

Mike was born on February 19, 1971 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Kenneth and Suzanne Van Loo. He graduated from Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis, Indiana and then attended Ball State University, before moving to Georgia in 1991. Mike worked in the restaurant industry for over 20 years and had tremendous people skills that developed into lifelong friendships. Mike was an incredibly caring person that was loved by many. He was always having fun in whatever he was doing and lived life to the fullest.

Mike loved spending time with family and friends and loved taking candid photos and videos of them.

Mike loved all sports. He played baseball in high school and loved basketball as well. He was an avid golfer that resulted in two holes in one in 2010 and again in 2014. When he was not working, he was playing golf with some of his many friends. He shared his enthusiasm for golf with his parents and enjoyed playing golf with his mom, Suzanne, at Twin City Country Club in Tennille, Georgia.

Mike was preceded in death by Grandparents Clarence and Aleda Van Loo, Grandparents Charles and Ruth Farris, and Aunt Molly Farris Green.

Mike is survived by his parents Kenneth and Suzanne Van Loo of Sandersville, Georgia, sister Amy Griffiths of Fort Wayne, Indiana, sister Molly Wilkes of Decatur, Georgia, brothers-in-law Shane Griffiths and Todd Wilkes, girlfriend Lauren Carlson, nieces Beth Griffiths, Briley Wilkes, nephews Cole Griffiths (Kaylee), Wyatt Griffiths, and Ty Wilkes, and great-niece Stella Griffiths. Aunts Jane Sand, Marty Johansen and Joan Wambaugh and their families.

The family of Mike Van Loo wishes to extend our sincere thanks to his girlfriend, Lauren, who stood by him as caregiver, advocate, and warrior of strength and love, as well as his doctors and nurses, and all of his many friends who reached out throughout his sickness.

A celebration of life to honor Mike will be held at a later date.
