Mildred lived a long and joyful life. She was an outgoing, gregarious, charming and often comedic mother and wife. Her quick wit made her very approachable to friends and strangers wherever she went. She always looked her best and was often called the fashion queen of the family. Her first job after high school was working at the local newspaper in Adel, Georgia. This is where she met her husband-to-be Harold Green who entered the newspaper office one day to place some company printing orders. For some reason Harold kept returning to the newspaper office just to see the 19 year old Mildred and the rest is history. Her office skills were legendary and she became a highly sought after secretary and administrative assistant eventually retiring from Life Savers Company where she served as the executive secretary to the southern regional manager. Millie was a voracious reader, master grammarian, and knowledgable on many subjects.
Harold and Mildred raised their two boys in Cordele, Georgia where the family soon became regular boaters on the waters of Lake Blackshear. Both were excellent water skiers and active in the First Methodist Church. The family later caught the "sailing bug" while living on Lake Lanier. After their retirement in Cumming, the couple spent the next several years traveling abroad between stints to a second home on the coast in Carrabelle, Florida for 13 years. Mildred was also known as Miss Millie or "Milbo" to her dear friends and family. In 1989 they were blessed with a grandchild, Amy Elizabeth Green. Immediately they became quite the doting grandparents and shared many loving experiences with Amy as Granny and Poppy.
