MILDRED LOUISE GRISWELL BERRY


Mildred Berry, 88, formerly of Ellijay and Lawrenceville, GA, passed away January 2, 2017 after a long illness. She is survived by her husband of over 69 years, Sidney Lanier Berry, Daughters Janice Berry Gipe and husband Jay; Darlene Berry Lauth and husband Greg, and Denise Berry. Mrs. Berry is survived by her brother Ray Griswell and wife Cathy, and her sister Linda Griswell Gunther and her husband Don. She is also survived by Grandchildren Joshua Ryan Gipe; Janese Parker Gipe; Jessica Gipe Marshall; Sydney Leyna Williams; Gregory Dwight Lauth II and James Gene Lauth, and Great Grandchildren Grant Marshall; Alexis Marshall; Nora and Georgia Gipe, and numerous nephews and nieces.


Mrs. Berry was formerly an active member of Ellijay Methodist Church, worked at a community recycle store, and had a career working as an Executive Secretary at Columbia Theological Seminary. She and her husband traveled widely and enjoyed their respective families greatly.



Mrs. Berry was a devout Christian, brought many to the Lord, and lived out her faith every day. She will be loved and remembered for her kind and unassuming manner, her sense of humor, her passion for order and beauty and love for others. She will rest at Alcova Baptist Church in Lawrenceville, Georgia. "This is the day that the Lord hath made, we will rejoice and be glad in it."


We will celebrate Mildred's life and our cherished memory of her on Thursday, January 5th at 10:30am at Brookwood Baptist Church, 2775 Brookwood Road, Cumming GA 30041, telephone number 770-889-0239. There will be a brief reception following with light snacks at the church. Following the reception Mildred will be laid to rest at Alcova Baptist Church, 1540 Alcovy Road, SE, Lawrenceville, GA 30045.
