Myra Jo Collett

Mrs. Myra Jo Collett, Mema, age 89 of Jasper, Georgia went home to celebrate Christmas with Jesus on Tuesday, December 12, 2023.

Welcoming her to heaven were her parents Curtis and Ruby McWhorter, the love of her life, husband- Raymond Collett, her son-Greg Collett, and brother-Dwight McWhorter.

Myra is survived by her son and daughter in law, Kenny and Ginny Collett, her grandchildren: Lydia & Wesley Burnett, Jeremy & Audrey Collett, and Lauren & Ryan Fleming. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren: Noah and Chatham Burnett, Levi, Lane, Emma and Moya Collett, and Piper Fleming, as well as numerous extended family and life-long friends.

For the last 2 ½ years Mema resided at The Retreat Assisted Living in Jasper, GA and was taken care of by a team of angels who treated her like their own family.

Funny. Brave. Brutally Honest. Survivor. Fierce, and some would say a bit stubborn. Mema’s wit and humor have provided great memories over the years.

She retired from Southern Bell and loved to spend her time cheering on the Braves, spending time with her family, and preparing delicious food. Her teacakes were heavenly and even when she thought they weren’t perfect, her family devoured them. Myra was a faithful member of Hopewell Baptist Church and was a member of Helping Hands and involved in their international mission trips to Jamaica. She was also a member of the church choir, and her beautiful alto voice is now singing in the heavenly choir.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, December 16, 2023, in the Chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with Dr. Randy Smith, Rev. Bud Sutton, Rev. Alan Sutton and Rev. Gary Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Saturday from 12:00 to the hour of service at the funeral home.
