Nancy P. Gilbert

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Nancy Gilbert, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Nancy went into the loving arms of Jesus on February 24, 2025.

Born on April 28, 1943, Nancy lived a life full of love, compassion, and dedication to her family and community. She was married to Bobby Gilbert Sr. for 41 years. She served her community through Coal Mountain Baptist Church and retiredfrom the Department of Family Children Services. During her time at DFCS she worked with Jesse’s House to support girls in need of support. She was known for her warm heart, generous spirit, and unwavering support for those she loved. 

Nancy loved to grow vegetables in her garden. She would share her crop with the whole community. Nancy’s kindness touched the lives of many, and her legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her.

Nancy is survived by her children, Gene Gilbert (Tracy) and Jamie Gilbert (Brenna), and her grandchildren, Morgan Miller (Ross) and Gracie Gilbert, who were the light of her life. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents Furman Lee Pendleyand Martha Harrison Pendley, her loving husband Bobby Gene Gilbert Sr., her eldest son Derrick Gilbert, her brothers Harold Pendley Dan Pendley and Randall Pendley, her sister Martha Lee Ethridge.

The family would like to send a special thank you to The Oaksat Hampton and Caritas Hospice Care for all their love and support.

Nancy’s memory will forever be cherished in our hearts. 

A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on February 26th at Ingrams Funeral Home. Followed by a burial service at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be:

Tuesday 2/25: 5:00pm to 8:00pm

Wednesday 2/26: 11:00am to 1:45pm
