Patricia Lackey Ray, 86 went to be with the Lord on May 5th, 2023.
Patricia was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Thurman Lackey of East Point, Ga. She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Robin and Mark Foster of Dawsonville, Ga and her son and daughter in law Ricky and Lori Ray of Orlando FL. Her brother and wife Wayne and Charlotte Lackey of Cartersville Ga also brother and wife David and Linda Lackey of Newnan Ga., nieces and nephews. Patricia was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James C Ray. Her parents and her elder brother Kenneth E. Lackey.
Patricia was a 1954 graduate of Russell High School in East Point, Ga. She worked for many insurance companies such as Aetna Insurance Company, where she met her future husband. Hartford Insurance, Sinclair Oil and Employer’s Liability Insurance. She stayed home for 14 years to raise her children. Then returning to work for Gold Seal Company, Dekalb County Board of Education, GA Pharmaceutical Association and Independent Insurance Agents of GA, where she obtained her GA Insurance Agent’s License, Cooroon & Black Insurance PencoDivision. Then Providence Washington Insurance as an underwriter.
Patricia lived in Dekalb County for 25 years then moved to Cumming for 23 years before moving to Gainesville, to Oakwood ending end Dahlonega Ga. Pat and her husband enjoyed camping and boating. They belonged to a camping club for 10 years. They made numerous trips to many interesting places. This included an extended trip out west, to see America and Nova Scotia.
During 65 years of marriage, Patricia and Jim aways served the Lord in several churches according to where they lived. Beginning with Eastland Road Methodist Church in Atlanta for 12 years, then Mount Carmel Christian Church in Decatur for 14 years. Upon moving to Cumming GA, they served with First Christian Church for 18 years, then First Redeemer for 3 years. After retiring they Moved to Gainesville and joined First Baptist Church for the last 15 years.
Burial will be at Sawnee View Gardens in Cumming Ga.
