Paul, 91, was born in Hart County on November 11, 1933 to John Waco Madden and Effie McKelley Madden. Paul grew up in Elberton where he attended school and helped on the family farm until joining the Navy.
Paul loved to tell stories about his military service on the USS Grapple in Korea. Not only did Paul serve his country and help on his family farm; he also worked at General Motors and drove a trolley in Atlanta before putting himself through barber school to become a barber and eventually a barber shop owner, where he spent decades sharing fun stories with his customers.
Paul was a devoted husband to Mildred Madden for 34 years and a loving father who would have done anything for his two daughters, Melissa and Michelle. He loved his grandchildren with all his heart and made a point of being a big part of their life. He also loved visits with his great grandbabies.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Madden, his parents John Waco and Effie McKelley and his siblings; Lizzie Lee, Ellis Waco (Bud), Corine Jewell, Joseph Claude, Hugh Dorsey (“Pig”), Annie Ruth, George Henry, Frank Ervin (“Shine”), John Albert, Hazel Christine, Hansel Eugene (Buck), Jack Maurice, Arthur Dillard, Effie Gene, Susie M, and twins siblings who passed shortly after birth.
Paul leaves behind his loving daughters, Melissa and Michelle (Mark), his devoted grandchildren, Christopher (Chris), Matthew (Mat), and William (Will), his loving grand daughter-in-law, Jessica (Jess) and three sweet grandbabies, Olivia (Ollie), Brody, and Jordyn (Jo Jo).
