Penny Quinn Douthit, 80, of Cumming, GA passed away June 22, 2022. Penny was born in Atlanta, GA to the late John and Vivian Anderson Quinn. Penny was a marvelous cook with specialties ranging from fried chicken and biscuits, the BEST chocolate pound cake, and a salad that would make any carnivore bow down. Penny and her husband Neal cherished their marriage, their family, and living on Lake Lanier where countless precious memories were made. They were famous for the fabulous parties where loved ones and acquaintances gathered and became family. She poured so much love into her ceramics and crocheting and enjoyed gifting them to loved ones. When she wasn’t entertaining family and friends, Penny spent her time pursuing QVC late at night or could be found with her nose in a book. She answered every call no matter the time and was a comforting sounding board for everyone who needed her. Penny was a long-time member of the former First Christian Church of Cumming. Penny was preceded in death by her brother Rae Quinn.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, and sweetheart for 63 years, Neal Douthit; daughters and sons in-law Lee Ann and Doug Mooney, Debbie and Terry Esco, Robin Shadburn; grandchildren Alyssa and Derek Leonard, Zack Mooney, Hunter Mooney and his fiancé Katherine, Preston and Morgan Esco, Carson Mooney; great grandchildren Easton Leonard, Mason Esco, baby E on the way; several nieces, nephews; and her beloved Lake Family.
