Phillip Von Bradley, beloved son, husband and father, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022. He was 54 years old.
Phillip is survived by his wife of 25 years, Lainey Jo Forde Bradley, and children, William Phillip Bradley and Julia Rose Bradley, of Cumming, Georgia and his father, Dennis Lowell Bradley, Jr., of Cherryville, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Bull Bradley.
Phillip grew up playing sports year-round from the time he could throw a ball and he enjoyed summers with his maternal grandparents in Eastern Tennessee. An only child, Phillip always found his extended family: through friends, teammates and Sigma Nu fraternity brothers. After he married Lainey, the love of his life, he gained loving in-laws, Sharon Reed Forde and Richard Forde. Phillip’s proudest title of “Dad” came with the arrival of Will and Julia. He also earned the treasured title of “Uncle Phillip” or “Uncle P” to nieces, nephews, godchildren, and close friends’ children. Phillip found joy in encouraging young people and he was a ‘second dad’ to many of Will and Julia’s friends.
Phillip graduated with a business degree from Appalachian State University. When a mid-life career change led him to pursue a new purpose, he became a nurse, following in his mom’s footsteps. Phillip attained his bachelor’s degree in nursing from Albany State University. He faithfully served the patients of Northeast Georgia Health System for more than 11 years and was known as a loyal, hard-working colleague and leader. Phillip had a passion for the nursing profession and was champion for anyone who decided to attend nursing school. He served on several boards to advocate for health-related issues in the northeast Georgia community.
A driven student, Phillip was nearing graduation from The University of Alabama’s nursing administration master’s program, proudly joining his children at the university they hold dear. An avid sports fan, Phillip loved fall Saturdays in Boone and Tuscaloosa and summer afternoons cheering on the Atlanta Braves. He loved to make people feel welcome, he treasured time spent with family and friends, and he never knew a stranger.
Phillip had a life-long faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of Browns Bridge Church, where he served on a Guest Services team. He exemplified the Christian principle of selflessness. What brought Phillip the most joy was service of others before himself.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 20 at Browns Bridge Church (3860 Browns Bridge Road in Cumming). In lieu of flowers, memorials can be mailed to the Lanier Technical College Foundation (2535 Lanier Tech Drive Gainesville, GA 30507) or online at laniertechfoundation.org. Please designate gifts for the “Phillip Bradley Memorial Scholarship Fund.”
