R.C. Lenwood Burruss, age 88, of Forsyth County, passed away Friday, October 14, 2011. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church. Lenwood was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lukeand Idella Burruss; brothers and sisters, Hubert (Ola) Burruss, Eula (Jim) Corn, Wilford (Zinnie) Burruss and first wife (Willie Mae), Winford (Janie) Burruss and first wife (Byrd), Chesley (Eula) Burruss, Robert Lee Burruss (infant), Bunie (Coy) Gilleland, Abi (Henry) Carruth, Ray (Lucille) Burruss, Alva Jay (Kathleen) Burruss, Dillard (Mildred) Burruss. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Jean Burruss; children, Tommy (Joyce) Burruss, Deborah (Phil) Smith, Sherry (Phil) Sanders; grandchildren, Philecia (Sam) Shanks, Arthur Smith, Ash (Becky) Smith, Luke(Dana) Burruss, Leane (Matt) Sorrell, Vanessa (John) Bierman, Dede Sanders; 16 great grandchildren ; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 16, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with Rev. John Lummus and Rev. Rubin Smith and Dr. Lester Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in Coal Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 4:00p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Disabled Veterans @ www.dav.org or Concord Baptist Church building fund @ 770-887-9482. Ingram Funeral Home Crematory, Cumming, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
