Ralph Garrett Outler Jr. (Garry) passed away on the evening of Friday, January 13th, at Piedmont hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. His weakening heart was unable to withstand a surgical procedure to remove infection from his chest.
Garry was born in Savannah, Georgia, on April 25th, 1953. He enjoyed a long and successful career as a salesman in the industrial sewing machine industry and later in the medical supply industry. Among his greatest joys were being outdoors, either hunting or fishing, traveling with his children, and playing poker every Friday night with his brother, Johnny, and several close friends.
Garry fought a courageous battle for the better part of a decade, never giving up hope that he would receive a new heart and resume the things he enjoyed most. He did everything in his power to make sure those closest to him felt his immense love. His perseverance and generosity inspired many, and his legacy will live on.
Garry is survived by his mother and father, Ralph and Carolyn Outler; his brother, Johnny Outler; his sisters, Janan O'Saile and Jane Outler Rice; his daughter, Kelley Outler; and his son, Cory Outler.
The family will host a celebration in his honor at Central Park in Cumming, Georgia, near the time of his birthday in April.
