Ralph Hugh Whitt

Ralph Hugh Whitt, age 74 of Gainesville passed away on July 10, 2019. He was born at home on August 16, 1944 to Ralph Felton and Dessie Karr Whitt of Cumming. He was a member of Silver City Baptist Church. He lived the last 10 years in the care of his daughter Amy and her family.

Ralph was a master carpenter for over 50 years, until his stroke in 2001. He always said "If you can draw it, I can build it" He also served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Maryland and Germany.

He was preceded in death by his Wife of 42 years, Martha Ann Hendrix Whitt, his parents Ralph Felton and Dessie Karr Whitt, youngest daughter Kimberly Ann Whitt, brother Harry Whitt, as well as two infant brothers.

He is survived by his children, Michael & (Polly) Whitt of Argenta, Illinois and Amy & (Mike) Gearino of Cumming, Georgia, his much-loved grandson Jesse Michael Gearino of Cumming, Georgia, sister and brother-in-law Jean & Rev. Jim Ellis of Gainesville, Georgia, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mattie & Roy Mann of Doraville, Georgia. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and special friends.

Visitation will be Saturday July 13th, 2019 at Byars Funeral Home in Cumming, Georgia from 5 until 8 pm. Funeral services will be Monday July 15th, 2019 at Silver City Baptist Church in Dawsonville, Georgia at 12:30 pm. The body will lie in state at the church from 11 am until service time. Interment will follow in the Silver City Baptist Church Cemetery.
