Ray Jack Burton, age 83, of Cumming, GA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, September 16, 2019. Ray was born in 1936, to the late Howard and Irene Burton. He was raised on a small farm in north Fulton County, and graduated from Milton High School. Ray worked in the abrasive business as a technical sales representative and was instrumental in the success of Future Abrasives, a distributor of abrasive products in Atlanta. He was an avid Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves Fan. Ray loved gardening and took pleasure in sharing vegetables with friends and neighbors. Ray was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He instilled a hard work ethic in his family, as well as, teaching them to be thankful for the simple things. To Ray, Sundays were set aside for worship, and his family would faithfully attend whenever the church doors opened. Ray was a member of Coal Mountain Baptist Church in Cumming, GA, where he served as a Deacon. Ray will be dearly missed by all that knew him. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Jane Burton Gilreath, and grandson, Chip Jones.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ineal Burruss Burton; children, Terrie (H.I.) Jones, Dolores (Marc) Freeman, Earl Howard (Charese) Burton, and Wade (Sharyn) Burton; grandchildren, Lindy (Blake) Morris, Drew (Mandy) Jones, Chase (Allison) Freeman, Weslie (Ben) Holton, William Howard Burton, Hannah Burton, Jackson Burton, Clara Burton, Sadie Burton, and Zeke Burton; great grandchildren, Jake, Emily, and Bret Jones, Caleb and Ava Grace Morris, Noah, Anna Kate, and Caroline Jones, Trey and Carter Freeman, and Landon and Levi Holton; along with many other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Burton will be held Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Coal Mountain Baptist Church in Cumming, GA with Rev. Doug Carnes, Rev. Jerry Orr, and Rev. Gary Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Garden in Cumming, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m.
