Gina was born and raised in Cumming, Georgia. She was very proud of being a true southerner, as was evidenced by her beautiful southern accent and deep, all-encompassing love of all things Coca-Cola. While Cumming will always be home, she ventured into Atlanta quickly, landing the love of her life at her downtown Atlanta job, over the phone with that southern accent of hers. The 70s and early 80s were spent in Decatur, supporting Tommy and his business, having her four kids, and making memories with family and friends mostly from days at Glen Haven Baptist Church. Tommy left us unexpectedly and far too quickly in 1985 at the age of 38.
Starting work in corporate America at the age of 39, a single Mom with four children, in the mid-80s was no small feat. But Gina did just that, creating a career in accounting, administration, technology, and analytics over more than 25 years. The last 15 of those were at Office Depot’s BSD locations in Atlanta with some amazing people that she (and her kids) still calls family.
Four years later, life began again as a brood, as she married Harry and his 3 children. The decades that follow raised those 7 children into adults now with their spouses and children. She made family traditions and memories that will carry on for generations. Because of Mimi, her family will always share her favorite holiday together on Christmas Eve – complete with village décor, a very specific menu of Grandmommie’s dishes and mountains of gifts that result in an avalanche of paper deep enough for children to swim in.
Regina Lee, Gina, Mimi – all who knew her through a lifetime of events, wonderful and catastrophic, big and small, knew her for her love, humor, quick wit and blazing sarcasm….all the way down to the days leading to her passing. She enjoyed traveling anywhere, with a deep bias for the beach. She is loved by all who carry her memory and know that she is running happily right now with dear people she has missed for so long.
Family and friends are welcome to visitation at 2:00 this Saturday, September 17th with a Service in Celebration of her life to follow at 4:00 at Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, GA
