Rev. Donnie L Cagle, 72 passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 19, 2023 following an extended illness. He was surrounded by his loving family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Jean Cagle.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years Dorothy Chambers Cagle. He is also survived by his children David Cagle, Daniel and Alexandria Cagle, and Dusty and Stacey Cagle, as well as his grand-blessings Brooke and Payton Myers, Katelynn Cagle and Elijah Bearden (fiancé), Kelsey and Sophia Cagle, Noah and Reed Cagle; and his two great grand-blessings Miller and Maddyn Myers.
Additionally, he is survived by his siblings Wayne (Helen) Cagle, (Mike) Vickie Smith, (Ricky) Robin Smith, (Orvil) Regina Rogers, brother and sister-in-law Jackson & Deborah Chambers, a number of nieces, nephews, and close personal friends.
He was honored to have pastored Corinth Baptist Church in Forsyth County and Island Ford Baptist Church in Gwinnett County. He also baptized more than 50 souls to the faith, some of them being family members after their profession of faith in Jesus Christ.
No one loved spending time with their family more than he did. Simply sitting outside on his swing and enjoying each other's company was a perfect day, paired with homemade ice cream of course. His favorite time of year was Christmas and celebrating the birth of Christ, with many cherished memories of putting up the trees and classic Christmas village every year.
He had many personal interests, Southern Gospel music being his favorite. He played piano for The Gospel Echoes Quartet of Gainesville. He never hesitated to play for any choir or singer anywhere, and attended the National Quartet Convention yearly. He enjoyed sports; he coached the boys during little league years; a fan of the Elliott family racing team from its inception; also attending games for the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, and UGA Football. He enjoyed hunting and bass fishing, but his real sporting passion became golf with his sons and his friends.
He excelled in many avenues to provide for his family; some of them were poultry grower, plumbing & electrical maintenance, building contractor where he built homes in Forsyth and Dawson counties, and in the maintenance department for the Forsyth County Board of Education to name a few.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday January 28, 2023 at 11:00am in the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Danny Bennett and Rev. Ronnie Powell officiating with internment in Sawnee memorial gardens and graveside prayer by Rev. Garry English.
