Reverend Michael Millwood went Home to be with the Lord on April 27, 2022, at the age of 50, after a brave battle with kidney cancer. Michael was born to Marshall and Joyce Millwood on August 22, 1971. At the young age of 18, Michael accepted the Lord’s calling to preach the gospel. Michael soon became a pastor and for 28 years he pastored several churches in Forsyth County: Ridgeview, Salem, Mayfield, Daves Creek and Beaver Ruin Baptist Church where he was currently the pastor at the time of his passing. Michael had a pastor’s heart. He not only loved the Lord, but he loved his church members as if they were part of his own family. He loved nothing more than having kids from church running around in his front yard. Michael was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Bobby Hulsey, his grandparents, Amos and Doris Millwood and H.V. and Bernice Martin, and his grandmother-in-law Lucille Greenway.
He is survived by his wife, Becky (Hulsey) Millwood, his son and daughter-in-law Jacob and Megan (Brumbelow) Millwood, his daughter and son-in-law Katie Beth and Nick Barr, his son Timmy Millwood, grandchildren, Maverick, Mae, and Chap Millwood, and Judd Barr, his parents, Marshall and Joyce Millwood, his sister and brother-in-law, Beth (Millwood) and Todd Skinner; mother-in-law, June Hulsey; brother-in-law, Josh Baker; his nieces Savanna and (Alan) Thomas, and Sierra Skinner as well as many loving aunts and uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 1, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Mayfield Baptist Church with Rev. Troy Milford and Rev. Todd Skinner officiating. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be the Beaver Ruin Baptist Church Deacon Board. Honorary pallbearers will be a host of preacher friends and family.
