Richard “Dick” Clifton, 83, died on October 26, 2024 after a long illness. He was born in Newton, NJ on March 14, 1941 to the late John and Anne Clifton. At the time of his death, Dick was a resident of Cumming, GA. He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela, his brothers John (Joan), and Jerry, his sister, Susan, and numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and Dick and Pam’s four-legged children, doggies Stella and Cassie, and gray mare, Ruwenzori.
Entrepreneur, business owner, restauranteur, multi-engine instrument pilot, boat captain, sportfisherman, avid golfer, and dreamer, Dick lived and worked in Canada, New York, Washington, DC, Texas, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Atlanta, and all over the US, working for and owning various restaurants, before retiring and buying “Deep Water Marina,” a commercial marina in Apalachicola, FL. Dick finally retired again to Panama City Beach, FL, and continued to play golf and enjoy fishing with friends and family on his 38ft Betram sportfishing boat, “Deep Water”, before moving back to Georgia.
Dick was a graduate of the University of Colorado, studying aeronautical engineering and economics, before receiving a degree in political science and what he liked to call “arts & parties.” He loved life, worked hard, and he never stopped dreaming.
Funeral arrangements are pending. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
