Richard Hasbrouck, age 79, of Big Canoe, Ga., passed away on Nov. 14 after a brave and long-fought battle with cancer.
He was born on Dec. 22, 1939, in Corry, Penn., to the late Joseph and Fern Hasbrouck.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peg; his mother and father; and granddaughter, Emily. He is survived by his two sons, Daren Hasbrouck (Lisa Lowrey) and David Hasbrouck (Stephanie); grandsons, Daniel, Andrew, Oliver, Henry and Charlie; sister, Joann Wilfong (Chuck), several nieces and nephews and his cherished dog Darcy.
Dick graduated from Sherman Central High School in 1957, after which he served in the United States Marine Corps. He married Peg on June 1, 1963.
In 1973, he and his family moved to Georgia, where Dick worked at Lithonia Lighting and Coca Cola USA. He went on to work for more than 20 years at Lockheed Martin Corporation.
He and Peg retired in 2001 and built their dream home in Big Canoe. Dick put his drafting skills to good use designing each detail of their beautiful home in the mountains, where Dick enjoyed woodworking and running his impressive collection of model trains for his grandsons.
Though Dick was a man of few words, his words were wise and often laced with perfectly timed dry wit and humor. His corny jokes and sly grin will be missed by those who loved him.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the ASPCA (ASPCA.org).
Ingram Funeral Home Crematory, 210 Ingram Ave, Cumming, GA 30040 is in charge of arrangements.
