Richard J. Farrell, a native of New York City, was born July 23, 1933 and passed away on July 19, 2017. His wife Bridget and grandson Caleb predeceased .

Survivors are his sons, Richard and wife Patricia of St. Augustine, Florida and Thomas and wife Deborah of Dawsonville, Georgia; plus grandsons, Christopher of Suwanee, Georgia and Darrell of St. Augustine, Florida. He had a special kinship with an adopted granddaughter, Sister Mary Nichole Nietzel of Iowa, a Catholic Missionary nun in Slovakia. His father John and mother Loretta predeceased him and his brother, John currently lives in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. Mr. Farrell was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. Mr. Farrell was an Alzheimers caregiver for 15 years for his wife Bridget. He was active in local Alzheimers support groups participating and lecturing on the lessons he learned from being his wifes caregiver. He was a member of his Notre Dame alumni class Heading Home project in which he shared and counseled classmates on Alzheimers and other long-term illnesses care giving. Mr. Farrell was a member of his local Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in Dawsonville, Georgia. He participated in numerous Church activities and considered his church, pastor and parishioners the bedrock of his faith and belief in God.

Memorial service for Mr. Farrell will be held Monday, July 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in Dawsonville, Georgia with

Father Brian Higgins ,officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your favorite charity in his name.

Ingram Funeral Home Crematory, Cumming, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
