Richard “Wendell” Hardeman

Richard “Wendell” Hardeman went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at the age of 89.  He was born in Atlanta, GA to the late Leroy and Nora Hardeman.  He put his faith in Jesus on August 16, 1950 at Longstreet Baptist Church where he was a life time member.  He was a member of the Ducktown Masonic Lodge for over 60 years.  Wendell served in the U.S. Army from 1956 – 1958.  Then, on May 23, 1959 he married the love of his life Betty Wyatt. He spent most of the 1960’s building houses with his dad.  Then he worked as a machinist for the Atlantic Steel Corporation retiring in 1995 with 26 years of service. 

Everyone who knew Wendell considered him a devoted family man and everything he did in life,he put his family first.  He was a loving husband, dad, granddaddy and great granddaddy.  He had a very special relationship with his 3 grandsons, and his 2 great grandsons.  As long as he was able he enjoyed time on his tractor driving his grandsons around in his home made wagon.  He enjoyed gardening, wood working and doing anything where he was able to work with his hands.

In addition to his parents Wendell is also preceded in death by an infant older brother.

Wendell is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Betty Hardeman; sons and daughter in-law, Keith Hardeman, Darryl and Shannon Hardeman; grandsons and their wives, Ryan and Samantha Hardeman, Nathanael and Kelsey Hardeman, Joseph Hardeman; great grandsons, Alex and Logan.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 14, 2023, in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Carnes, Rev. Don Westray, and Rev. Sam Castleberry officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens in Cumming, GA. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 13, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Wednesday, June 14, 2023 from 1:00 pm until service time at Ingram Funeral Home, 210 Ingram Avenue, Cumming, GA 30040.
